What this covers

## Landscaping across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire & Northamptonshire
Landscaping is what happens between the hard surfaces: the lawn, the levels, the raised beds, the deck, the walls that hold one part of the garden above another. Done well it makes a garden feel bigger and simpler to look after. Done badly it turns into a patch of ground everyone walks past on the way to the shed.

PaveCreate lays new lawns in natural turf or artificial grass, builds decking, installs sleepers and constructs garden walls, across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. The preparation underneath is part of the job: excavation, sub-base where it is needed, edgings and drainage, and every bit of waste goes away with us.

It suits gardens that hold water and never dry out, sloping plots that need terracing into usable space, tired lawns beyond repair, and anyone who wants the whole space finished in one go rather than in pieces over several summers.

### When homeowners call us
A lawn that is more moss, weed and bare patch than grass
- Ground that stays waterlogged for days after rain
- A slope that makes half the garden unusable
- Worn, slippery or rotting decking
- Beds and borders with nothing holding them back
- A garden being finished off after building work

What happens if it is left

## The cost of leaving it another season
Garden problems compound quietly, and the ground is almost always the cause.

### Standing water kills a lawn
Grass laid on compacted or badly drained ground never establishes. It thins, moss takes over, and the turf money is spent again the following year.

### Slopes creep
Unretained banks slump toward the house or the fence with every wet spell, taking soil onto paving and leaving hollows behind.

### Decking rots from beneath
Framing set too close to wet ground with no airflow underneath fails long before the boards on top look worn.

### A garden that goes unused
The practical cost of getting it wrong is the simplest one: a space nobody walks into from October to May.

### Common mistakes we get called out to fix

- |Laying turf or artificial grass straight onto unprepared, compacted ground
- |Treating drainage as optional in a garden that already floods
- |Building decking or sleeper beds without levels set first
- |Retaining a bank with timber never intended to hold weight
- |Doing the garden in pieces, so each stage has to cut into the last one

What you get

## What a PaveCreate job actually gives you

### Ground prepared before anything is laid
Levels, drainage and preparation are dealt with first, because that is what decides whether a lawn takes and a deck stays sound.

### Usable space out of a slope
Terracing, retaining walls and sleepers turn ground that cannot be walked on into a level area you can put furniture on.

### Turf or artificial, chosen honestly
Natural turf where conditions suit it, artificial grass where shade, drainage or use would defeat real grass.

### One team, one finish
Paving, lawn, walls, sleepers and fencing set out together so the finished garden lines up instead of meeting awkwardly.

### All waste taken away
Spoil, turf, old decking and rubble go with us, and the site gets a full clean-up.

### No deposit, 5-year guarantee
Nothing paid until the work is finished and you are happy with it, and a 5-year workmanship guarantee on everything we carry out.

In detail

## Materials, methods and the options open to you

### New lawns in natural turf
A lawn is only as good as what it is rooted into. Existing growth is stripped, the ground broken up and levelled, and the surface prepared so roots can get down and water can get away. Turf is laid tight with staggered joints and rolled out, and the edges are cut to the line of the beds and paving so the shape reads deliberately.

### Artificial grass
Artificial grass earns its place where natural turf struggles: deep shade, heavy footfall, dog use, or small gardens that never get the light to recover. It needs proper preparation underneath: excavation, a compacted base and a free-draining layer, plus secure edge fixing, or it ripples and lifts. Done properly it stays flat, drains through and stays green in the months a real lawn would be mud.

- Shaded gardens where grass never establishes
- Dog owners and heavy family use
- Small courtyard gardens and roof-level terraces
- Anywhere mowing is impractical

### Decking
Decking suits changes in level, and areas where a solid paved surface would mean a great deal of build-up. The frame is what matters: set for the span, kept clear of wet ground, and fixed so the boards stay flat and the whole structure stays rigid. Boards are set out with consistent gaps for drainage and a clean edge detail rather than cut ends left showing.

### Sleepers, raised beds and edging
Sleepers are a straightforward way to hold soil, form raised beds, step a slope or divide a lawn from planting. Used low they edge and tidy; used higher they retain, and at that point they need fixing and backing that accounts for how heavy saturated soil gets.

### Garden walls and retaining
Where a bank has to be held, or a terrace formed, a built wall does what timber cannot. Walls are built off a proper foundation with drainage behind them, because the water in the ground is what pushes a retaining wall over.

### Whole-garden jobs
Most landscaping jobs combine several of these at once: patio, lawn, sleeper beds, a wall and a new fence line. Setting them out together means the levels work as one scheme and each element finishes properly into the next, which is much harder to achieve when the garden is done a piece at a time.

Common questions

## Landscaping: questions we get asked
How much does landscaping a garden cost?It depends entirely on the size of the garden and what is included, so pricing follows a free, no-obligation site visit rather than a rate over the phone.

Do I need to pay a deposit? No. There is no deposit and no payment of any kind until the work is finished and you are happy with it. We buy all the materials ourselves up front. They simply stay ours until the job is paid for, which is what lets us ask nothing of you until the work is finished.

Should I choose real turf or artificial grass?Natural turf is the better choice where there is light and reasonable drainage. Artificial grass wins in deep shade, on heavy-use lawns and where dogs or mowing access make real grass impractical. Martin will tell you which your garden will actually support.

My garden floods: can that be sorted?Drainage is part of the groundwork we include, and levels and falls are set as part of the job so water is taken away rather than left to sit.

Can you do the patio, lawn and fencing together?Yes, and it is usually the better way to do it, one set-out, one clean-up, and every element finishing properly into the next.

Is landscaping work guaranteed?Yes. All our work carries a 5-year workmanship guarantee covering everything but fair wear and tear.

Do you clear away the old garden and the waste?Yes. Excavation, removal of the old surface and all waste removal are included, with a full clean-up at the end.

Which areas do you cover?St Neots, Bedford, Sawtry, Huntingdon, Wellingborough, Cambridge, Rushden, Sandy and Northampton, plus the surrounding towns and villages.
